Elaine started Hedgehog care in 1980

Apart from her pension, Elaine relies entirely on donations

It costs around 60p per day to feed a hedgehog

There can be up to 200+ hedgehogs to feed a day

Elaine spends about £500 a month on vet bills

Hedgehogs are now an endangered species

Hedgehogs are nocturnal animals, so if you find one in the daytime it means they are in trouble.

They may be orphaned, injured, poisoned, ill, cold or starving.

If they do not bother to curl up into a ball, they are not tame but ill and need your help.
