It is Hedgehog Awareness Week from May 5th to 11th 2013. It is organised by the British Hedgehog Preservation Society and aims to highlight the problems faced by hedgehogs and what you can do to help them.
The Hedgehog Care website already has much of this information on it. Hedgehogs face problems all year round so please don’t confine your interest to just one week of the year!
Elaine & Stacy need your help every day of the year. If you can go along to visit you will be able to see how much work is involved and how much help is needed. If you cannot visit in person please consider give a donation, however small, via the PayPal donate button.
Other things needed at Hedgehog Care at them moment are:
- Tins of dog food & cat food: NOT fish or pork flavoured though
- An experienced decorator to repaint the runs & cages with timber treatment
- New or leftover open cans of garden timber treatment paint, any colour: MUST be safe for animals
In the meantime I hope you take some time to read up on Hedgehog information so that you know what to do when you come across one. And if you are lucky enough to have them in your garden already you can help them flourish by looking after them properly.
